Eight alumni on Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ U.S. and Canada list

The prestigious list includes innovators in healthcare, consumer tech, education, law and policy, and more.

We all know that McKinsey alumni often go on to achieve considerable success in business, politics, education, social, and nonprofit work. Name an industry and you'll likely find a leader who has spent time within the Firm’s walls, making their charts MECE. The 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 list for the U.S. and Canada—which has grown to feature 30 young leaders in 20 categories—is no exception. Eight alumni and their work in venture capital, healthcare, law and policy, retail and e-commerce, consumer tech, social entrepreneurship, and education are honored.

The 2019 group joins an already impressive collection of alumni featured on Forbes' previous lists—including Marcela Sapone (BOS 08-10, 14-14), co-founder and CEO of Hello Alfred; Shiza Shahid (DBI 11-13), co-founder of the Malala Fund; Shirley Chen (NYO 09-09, 10-12), founder of Narrativ; Richard Matsui (TAI, HKO 07-10), co-founder and CEO of kWh Analytics; and Matt Doka (NYO 08-11) and Victor Ho (NYO 08-11), co-founders of FiveStars—among others.

The Europe- and Asia-specific lists for 2019 will be published early next year.

Consumer Technology
Rob Lehman (NYO 11-13) – Chief Growth Officer, Compass. Rob was one of the $4B startup’s first thirty employees. He’s overseen Compass’s expansion to more than 100 countries, a doubling of its revenue, and more than twenty M&A transactions.

Education
Vivian Shen (SVO 13-16) – Co-founder and CEO, Juni Learning. Vivian founded Juni with a Stanford classmate. The company works to make online coding classes more personal – many classes are one-on-one – and half of its instructors are women. Arielle Zuckerberg, the sister of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, is a recent Juni investor.

Healthcare
Anna Chif (MON 12-14) – Co-founder and COO, Dialogue. In the two years since Anna founded the telemedicine company, it has become the leader in its field in Canada, serving nearly 150 clients.

Law & Policy
Nicholas Cortes (MAD 11-14) – Co-founder and Head of Operations, Atrium. A Y-Combinator alum, Atrium – a machine-learning startup that automates time-consuming legal work – recently raised a $65m fund led by Andreessen Horowitz.

Abe Sutton (NYO 14-16) – Advisor to Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Previously serving as Associate Director of the U.S. National Economic Council for the current administration, Abe is now Secretary Azar's advisor for value-based reform.

Retail & e-Commerce
Allie Griswold (PHL 14-18) – Co-founder, Athena Club. A feminine care subscription company, Athena Club sends high-quality, organic tampons directly to consumers for less than $8 a month. Its high-profile investors include Henry Kravis and Cue Ball Capital.

Social Entrepreneurs
Jennifer Xia (NYO 12-14) –Founder and co-CEO, FreeWill. Jennifer co-founded the social venture to make estate planning easier and more accessible – at no cost. So far, FreeWill has enabled its users to commit more than $270,500,000 to nonprofit organizations.

Venture Capital
Clemens Baumgart (MUN, NYO 11-11, 14-16) – Principal, Harmony Partners. A Rocket Internet alum, Clemens, a native of Germany, has experience in the startup and venture capital environment across Europe. Now based in New York, he has sourced and led Harmony Partners’ investments in StreamSets and InfluxData, among others.
