Tatu is a partner at McKinsey’s Helsinki office and a leader in McKinsey Transformation and the Global Energy & Materials Practice. He works across the energy, industrials, construction, and materials sectors, helping clients significantly improve their performance through operating model renewals and procurement programs.
Tatu serves clients both in defining a strategic direction and truly implementing performance improvements, including CTO coaching and systematic capability building.
Recent examples of Tatu’s work include the following:
- led the turnaround of an oil and gas asset
- helped a power utility significantly improve performance through a holistic transformation program, covering operating model renewal, efficiency initiatives, and culture change
- supported an engineering and construction company on a procurement transformation
- diagnosed and detailed out operational improvement levers for a modular construction player
- helped a travel, logistics, and infrastructure company on its holistic performance improvement program
- supported a paper and packaging company in assessing and improving their organizational health
- acted as a CTO coach and led a procurement, plant operations, and support functions transformation for a food producer
- developed a five-year strategy for a mining OEM
Before joining McKinsey, Tatu worked for a composite manufacturer. He is also a long-term sports coach with over 15 years of experience and national-level recognition and still spends the majority of his spare time in Finnish baseball fields.
