Tomás is a leader in QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey, the firm’s AI practice. He is the global leader of its software development and R&D arm, QuantumBlack Labs. Additionally, Tomás leads McKinsey’s initiatives in the future of telecommunications, concentrating on 5G, digital infrastructure, and the implications for the use of AI and gen AI. His leadership also extends to a wide range of projects, including strategy, AI, regulation, spectrum, M&A across telecommunications, digital infrastructure, and a variety of other sectors.

Examples of his recent work include:

  • optimizing and strategizing for AI and gen AI opportunities within a utility setting
  • enhancing AI-based network experiences through measurement and application
  • steering the go-to-market strategy for a B2B telco in managed network services
  • driving an AI-led transformation within a telco consumer operation
  • crafting and deploying a digital twin strategy in the telecommunications sector
  • spearheading 5G strategy and conducting spectrum valuation for an integrated telco

Prior to McKinsey, Tomás worked for UBS, where he was the global media sector strategist, head of tech, media, and telecommunications in Latin America, and head of research and strategy in Mexico. During that time, Tomás ranked number one by Institutional Investor for Mexico coverage multiple times, and was part of the top-ranked Latin America and Mexico strategy team for over a decade.
